M.G VASSANJI, internationally acclaimed multiple-award winning fiction writer is in Dar-Es-Salaam. MG A was raised in the heart of Dar-Es-Salaam on Uhuru Street and he attended Aga Khan Boys’ Secondary School-now Tambaza Secondary School.

He studied nuclear physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. He lives in Toronto, Canada.

He spared time to talk to The Citizen Correspondent, MPELI Nsekela. Excerpts

Q: You have a Tanzanian history even though Canada is now your home. Tell us about your background, please.

A: My roots in Africa go deep. My mother was born in Zanzibar and my father in Kibwezi in Kenya. My paternal grandparents were also born in Kenya.
