Aga Khan Inaugurates Aleppo Citadel Project

Aleppo, 28 August 2008 – His Highness the Aga Khan today inaugurated the medieval citadel overlooking Syria’s ancient city of Aleppo.

The ceremony marked the completion of cultural revitalisation work on the citadels of Aleppo, Salah ad-Din and Masyaf that once formed a system of fortresses in central-western Syria. The restoration work was carried out by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) in partnership with the Syrian Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums.

  1. Mubaraki to Our Syrian Brothers and Sisters. HI is happy as seen in many photographs. In the Photo at Aleppo Citadel HI looks very
Happy and so does the Syrian GOVT Officials. Yes we have lot of
Ismaili History in Syria in the past Centuries. As Interenational Jamat
we should extend our Heart in terms of generosity for the Project our Imam inititiates in that part of the world. These projects are very
dear to our IMAM. I believe that Celebrations also comes with the Follow up on the IMam’s wishes in several essential Sectors of our Third World Country Jamats and their well being.
Inshallah, we will all be able to be part of those G J projects.
