The Ismaili Centre, South Kensington

This is a wonderful article providing context and detail about the South Kensington Ismaili Centre in London. It is a student’s assignment for the course “Modern British Architecture” BRST 440c, at Yale University. The student who has chosen the the area of South Kensington, and the Ismaili Centre within it, is named Jamie.

The Ismaili Centre, South Kensington

Housing numerous museums and being the site of the Great Exhibition of 1851, South Kensington, in West London, is known for its value as a cultural centre. In 1983, a new building entered this historic centre of culture and added to it, albeit in a decidedly un-English way.
