Razak Pirani began his study of tabla ten years ago under maestro Ritesh Das. Since then he has performed on stages across Canada and in the USA and Europe as a member of the Toronto Tabla Ensemble (TTE) and in Ismaili community productions. Razak’s tabla playing is featured on TTE’s latest album Bhumika, which has been featured on radio stations across the world. Razak is passionate about passing the art onto the next generation as a tabla teacher and arts administrator. Outside of music, Razak has a degree in mathematics and is currently in medical school at the University of Toronto.
