ALLAHU ALLAHU: Live Rendition by Udan Khatola

Farhan Shah and his band Udan Khatola on their official Facebook page recently released video of Allahu Allahu song that they had performed live at Jubilee concert in Dubai earlier this year

Allahu Allahu is a traditional Sufi chant (Dhikr) consisting of the word for God (Arabicالله‎ Allāh) run together three times, followed by Truth (Haqq):

Allāhu Allāhu Allāhu Haqq,

itself repeated three times over. According to Sufi tradition, this formula was introduced by Abu Bakr as he initiated the Naqshbandi tradition (Kabbani 2003 p. 87). Other Dhikrs consist of simple Allāhu Allāhu run together 400 or 600 times.

Qawwalis titled “Allah Hoo” have been performed by many different qawwals over the years, but rendition by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (inspiration behind Udan Khatola’s version) still is one of the most memorable qawwali.
