Growing up with deaf parents, it always bothered Azima how a simple communication was a challenge for the deaf due to language barrier. This led her to begin ConnectHear along with her two high school friends. ConnectHear aims to provide independent communication means to the deaf and hard of hearing individuals in Pakistan by the use of technology. It also host a sign language interpreted infotainment channel which now has a reach in over eight countries.
Along with running her startup, Azima is a sophomore at Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and also the Executive Council Member of IBA Entrepreneurship Society. She has been engaged in organizing various entrepreneurship workshop and conferences at IBA, especially for teenagers as she strongly believes in supporting youth to start working on their passion and ideas regardless of their age.
Previously, she has represented Pakistan in Kenya as a Global Encounters’ Participant, in Senegal as an English Language Instructor and in United States as a cultural exchange ambassador.
Azima strongly believes in the growing social entrepreneurial ecosystem in Pakistan. She is committed to explore ways to use technology and design thinking to help the differently abled in the future too, through her startup, ConnectHear
