The story of an unfortunate accident in an Afghan-Canadian Ismaili family. The friends and family are seeking support to accommodate Stem Cell Therapy and Epidural stimulation procedures available outside of Canada.
Rafi Shiwa is an Afghan Ismaili with full of hopes and dreams for his family. However, the tragic accident which happened at home while playing with his daughter by falling down from the bed and damaging his spinal cord, left him paralyzed below the neck on the spot in October 2014. For the past couple years he has exhausted all his financial resources and family help for his treatment such as acupuncture / physiotherapy beside initial surgical procedures.
At the moment he is paralyzed from neck down and does not have the ability to move his hands and legs. He is hopeful that with the stem cell therapy and epidural stimulation treatment, he recovers and restores his body movement.
The community’s institutions are involved and have done whatever was in their capacity or reach.
Rafi is not willing to give up and needs the support so he can afford the costs of stem cell therapy and epidural stimulation which is offered in some private hospitals abroad.
