“Nur: Reflections of Light” by composer Hussein Janmohamed to be performed in Belleville, Ontario, October 22, 2016

Elmer Iseler SingersBelleville – Canada’s acclaimed Elmer Iseler Singers will be performing at Bridge Street United Church on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m.

The Elmer Iseler singers have been Canada’s foremost professional chamber choir since 1979. The 20-voice choir perform nationally and internationally, with a repertoire that spans 500 years, of choral music sung with organ, piano and a cappella.

The Belleville concert will be an eclectic mix of classical, spiritual and secular music.

Of special interest will be the performance of Nur: Reflections on Light by Canadian composer Hussein Janmohamed a former member of the Elmer Iseler singers.

Nur reflects the sounds of Muslim devotion amid the music of the diverse Canadian soundscape. It was commissioned by the Aga Khan, for the opening of the Ismaili Centre in Toronto in 2014.
