Dr. Nasir Jetha
Member-at-Large, British Columbia representative
Dr. Jetha is a Vancouver pediatrician, award-winning teacher, and past president of the British Columbia Medical Association (now Doctors of BC) from 2011 to 2012. He joined the B.C. Children’s Hospital in 1985. He is also a clinical professor at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Jetha also runs a newcomer’s clinic for newly arrived Canadians. Born in Tanzania, with time spent studying in Iran, Dr. Jetha was given the opportunity to learn eight languages. His facility with languages helps him connect with new Canadians.
He is actively involved in volunteering internationally and in philanthropic activities. Dr. Jetha has done most of his medical volunteer work with a humanitarian organization called Focus Humanitarian Assistance and the Aga Khan Development Network in Africa, as well as in Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
Dr. Jetha studied medicine at Pahlavi University in Iran. He then did a residency in pediatrics in Winnipeg.
