March 11, 2016 — His Highness the Aga Khan is due to visit Kenya next week for the opening of a new press for the Nation Media Group. His visit to the country also relates more generally to the expanding scope of the work of the Aga Khan Development Network in the region.
Founded by the Aga Khan in 1959, the Nation Media Group is the largest independent media house in East and Central Africa. In addition to print publications such as the Daily Nation, it operates broadcast and digital media outlets in the region.
In 2014 Nation Media announced plans for the installation of a new state-of-the-art printing press as part of a wider capital expenditure plan. The new press is expected to improve print quality, enhance newspaper pagination and increase color capacity, in tandem with the Group’s expanding print business.
