"Globalization should not lead to establishing a single, homogenized society" - HH Aga Khan| ABC News

A prominent imam speaking at Harvard University is calling for greater cultural understanding between the Muslim world and the West.

The Aga Khan, spiritual leader of Shia Ismaili Muslims, said in a lecture Thursday at the Ivy League university that society needs to actively seek out difference and diversity and learn from them.

He also said globalization should not lead to establishing a single, homogenized society where all differences are erased, but instead respecting what people have in common and what makes them different.

And he reminded Muslims that a central tenet of Islam is celebrating the “common humanity” among the world’s population.
