APPNA expresses its deep sorrow at the killing of over 40 members of the Ismaili community near Safoora Chowk Karachi on May 13, 2015. Newspaper reports indicate that six gunmen boarded the bus which was carrying 60 members of the Ismaili community. The gunmen carrying 9 mm pistols entered the bus and executed 43 passengers and also wounded 13 others.
The Ismaili community has been known for its contributions to Pakistan from its very inception. They have built educational and charitable institutions throughout Pakistan. They are industrious, patriotic, educated and peaceful members of society. One of APPNA component societies’ The Agha Khan University Alumni Association of North America (AKUAANA) is from the Agha Khan University in Karachi. The Agha Khan University is a premiere medical university known for its standard of excellence.
Our sympathies are with the families of the slain members of the Ismaili community.
