Tunisian-born songwriter, composer, guitarist, and singer Emel Mathlouthi came to international attention when her song “Kelmti Horra” inspired protesters during what would become known as the Arab Spring.Her outstanding voice evokes Joan Baez, Sister Marie Keyrouz, and the Lebanese diva Fayrouz. A past collaborator with British musician/producer Adrian Thaws (aka Tricky), Mathlouthi incorporates trip-hop and rock elements into her distinctly lyrical style.
