Over 1,000 artifacts – including textiles, manuscripts and sculptures – span more than 1,100 years of Islamic culture housed within 11,000 square metres: it’s the Aga Khan Museum by the numbers.
Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Fumihiko Maki, the Don Mills building is an experiment in light.
The Brazilian granite–clad museum features galleries, a 350-seat auditorium and two classrooms encircling a central courtyard.
Glass walls draw sunshine into the atrium, creating an ever-changing play of shadows.
