Pune Camp: Despite financial crunch, they nurtured a dream of starting a high school. Jena, Manek and Zarina Sunderji, the three sisters from the city who started their career as teachers in various academies, are now the proud founders of the Sunderji’s Institutions in Pune.
The sisters now aim to set up a fully inclusive school under the Sunderji’s banner.
“In 1996, there was a sudden spurt in the number of primary schools in Pune and that is when Jena decided to start a primary school too. With the support of our brother and family members, we started with 11 children and one teacher in a small room. In a short period of time, the numbers started multiplying. We then set up a proper school on Shankarsheth Road,” said Manek Sunderji.
