AKF USA and Giving Tuesday: Target surpassed by 750% – CEO thanks all supporters

Ismailimail is proud to share the results of the AKF USA’s Giving Tuesday Campaign and we also want to thank all our readers for their outstanding support to all the Aga Khan Foundation Initiatives in Canada, USA and other countries through the years – initiatives such as the Partnership Walk/Golf, PartnershipInAction Walk/Golf/Runs and others.

We started our Giving Tuesday campaign with a goal to raise $20,000. You surpassed that goal in just a week. So we challenged you with a bigger goal — to raise $100,000. You surpassed that goal again! You have helped us raise almost $150,000. That’s right, we went BEYOND our goal, and it’s all thanks to you.

Thank YOU!

Inspiration can come from many quarters. When it comes from hundreds of generous individuals who simply give without need for recognition or reward — that selflessness galvanizes our efforts further. Yesterday, Aga Khan Foundation’s Giving Tuesday campaign came to a close, raising nearly $150,000. Your contributions, both in gifts and awareness-raising activities, make possible programs that promote freedom and dignity across hundreds of communities.

We started our Giving Tuesday campaign with a goal to raise $20,000. You surpassed that goal in just a week. So we challenged you with a bigger goal — to raise $100,000. You surpassed that goal again! You have helped us raise almost $150,000. That’s right, we went BEYOND our goal, and it’s all thanks to you.

Thanks to you, women like Burulai and Zainab can continue to improve schools all over Kyrgyz Republic and Kenya.

Thanks to you, aid workers like Fatima can continue to embolden women to become leaders in the face of disaster.

Thanks to you, microfinance officers like Simplice can enhance opportunities for farmers in Ivory Coast.

Your contribution will help thousands of people break the cycle of poverty and become independent. Thank you for making this possible.

In our experience, every bit helps. Working together in various partnerships, your contribution is magnifying the impact. Without you, we could not do our work. For a month leading up to December 2, our #GivingTuesday campaign featured stories of how real people in remote and challenging places – from Afghanistan to Mali – see change in their communities. These first-hand stories of local heroes show how lasting, positive change actually makes a tremendous difference in some of the poorest areas of the planet.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday inspires people to take collaborative action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world.

Seeing an opportunity to channel the generous spirit of the holiday season to inspire action around charitable giving, partners led by the 92nd Street Y and the UN Foundation came together to find ways to celebrate the great American tradition of giving. Leaders in philanthropy, social media and grassroots organizing joined to explore what is working in modern philanthropy and how to expand these innovations throughout the sector. The concept grew, and with the help of the founding partners including AKF USA, more than 16,000 organizations have joined the movement and provided creative ways for people to embrace #GivingTuesday and collaborate in their efforts.
