AUSTIN, TEXAS, October 15, 2014. On Sunday, October 12, 2014, 300 participants raced to end global poverty in the annual Austin Partnership Run at Brushy Creek Sports Park in Cedar Creek. The Austin Partnership Run is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA) to raise awareness and funds that reduce poverty, hunger, illiteracy and poor health in Africa and Asia.
The event raised a net $50,000 for Aga Khan Foundation projects globally. 100% of your donation and all net funds raised at Partnership Run go directly to projects supported by the Foundation; not a cent is spent on administration.
Attendees enjoyed the festivities of the day which in addition to the 5K Run, a 1K and a Three-Legged Race were held. Dignitaries of the Cedar Park and surrounding areas also attended the day’s events including: Niyanta Spellman, Founder of Rainforest P. The Run featured activities and an opportunity to learn more about the Foundation’s practical solutions for alleviating poverty from Afghanistan to Zanzibar.
This year marks the 20th anniversary for Partnership Walk / Run events, which will be held in nine major U.S. cities. Since 1995, PartnershipsInAction activities including the annual Partnership Walk, Run and Golf events have attracted over 440,000 participants and raised over $63 million for poverty alleviation projects supported by AKF USA.
