“While talking about how important it was for him to include student scholarships as part of this prize – and the future landscape of Canadian Architecture on the global stage – Ray Moriyama told me his own story, of being in a concentration camp at 4 years old and building a treehouse that let him escape his reality through imagination.
He told his father that when we was older he wanted 2 things, to be an architect and to marry a little girl named Sachi. Sachi was sitting in the front row, they have been happily married for decades.”
