Ali Asani, Professor of Indo-Muslim and Islamic Religion and Cultures, led an exploratory seminar at the Radcliffe Institute this August. During the two-day seminar, entitled “Fostering Religious Literacy through the Arts: The case of Islam,” Prof. Asani was joined by over a dozen scholars and students from various fields to discuss the value of employing visual, sonic and literary arts as pedagogical tools. Each participant shared their own experiences using the arts to innovatively teach about Islam. The event successfully created a space to exchange ideas and practices, and further pedagogy of religious studies.
