Located at 720 – 730 East Hastings Street, the development includes the library on the first and half of the second floor, YWCA community family program space on the second floor, and 21 units (a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom units) of long-term supportive housing for single mothers and their children who are at risk of homelessness on floors three to six. Completion is scheduled for fall 2015.
The housing component will be called YWCA Cause We Care House in honour of the lead donor, Cause We Care Foundation. The Province of British Columbia – BC Housing, Streetohome Foundation and the Ismaili Council for BC through the Ismaili Walk, are also generous donors to the project.
