Anusha Sachwani is from Karachi, Pakistan. She was raised abroad for ten years since the age of 3. Brought up in America for 7 years and in Canada for 3, her grandparents and their parents are from Garden East area of Karachi. Anusha has been in Karachi since 2006.
Anusha’s father, Asif Sachwani, has a transport business. Her mother, Zehra Sachwani, is a house wife. Anusha’s parents have worked hard throughout their lives, and they have always taught her that there is much more to life then fame and money. As she grew older, she saw her father help others before himself; he would put them before himself many times, This realization made a bigger impact in shaping her path. In her words, Anusha says: “I realized at times we may not know, but by helping others we pave a smooth path for ourselves. My parents have always been such a big supporter in my life, teaching me many things which helps life to be much easier.”
Anusha completed her O-levels from The City School, and she is currently doing private A-levels. She plans to become a Neurologist in the future and join Aga Khan University as this has been her dream for a long time. Her dream is to open her own NGO under her grandmother’s name which will give free education on elementary basis to everyone.
Anusha has been working on social causes for the past 4 years. She has volunteered for organizations like Dar-Ul-sukun, Sirat-Ul-Jinnah Orphanage, Girls Old Age Shelter, Children’s Cancer Hospital. She wish to be more active in the upcoming days. Her team is planning a summer camp in mid of June for Children’s Cancer Hospital and just recently they had visited Dar-Ul-sukun and gave kids a lovely ice-cream treat as well as many gifts.
Writing about her experiences helps her expand the causes she identifies with. She has been able to get youth involved, and she plans to take this at even bigger level. According to her: “…getting even one person volunteer selflessly for a cause, makes me feel like I have played my part.”
