Ismaili Muslim Art Exhibition at Surrey Art Gallery

Ismaili Muslim Art Exhibition at Surrey Art GalleryCurrent Exhibitions: Change: Contemporary Ismaili Muslim Art

May 3 to August 9, 2014

Change – the point of new beginnings – is inspired by the concept of everything rotating on a circle. The art in this exhibition explores the relevance of CHANGE, focusing on the expression of a significant event or reality. It is not the change itself, but the series of events caused by the change, that are of significance and invite the viewer to engage and participate. BC-member artists of Ismaili Artists Canada show the humanistic approach of Islam, and share their experiences of every changing world through a range of works including paintings, photography, and ceramics. Participating artists are Aziz Dhamani, Jalal Gilani, Yasmin P. Karim, Azmina Kassam, Sher Nasser, Alia Noormohamed, Shahira Patni-Tejpar, Alnoor Ramji, Taslim Samji.
