By Farah Lalani for Houston Chronicle – We see more and more people standing, sitting or walking alone, engrossed in their hand-held communication devices. But are they really more “in touch?”
This question was asked by His Highness the Aga Khan on Monday in his speech at Brown University’s 250th anniversary celebration, just a couple of weeks after his historic speech at the Canadian Parliament, where he was the first faith leader to address the Parliament.
While embracing the Internet’s power to reach across boundaries and its contribution to the “Information Revolution,” the Aga Khan also reminded that “the key to human cooperation and concord has not depended on advances in the technologies of communication, but rather on how human beings go about using – or abusing – their technological tools.”
