Amirali Alibhai: Using Art for Bridging Communities in Canada

Amirali Alibhai: Using Art for Bridging Communities in CanadaTORONTO, CANADA–“Humanity in a culture is often recognized by the work of its artists,” says 50-year-old Amirali Alibhai. For him, art has not only been a savior and healer during hard times, but also an effective tool for bringing communities together. “There are a lot of misconceptions around cultures we are unfamiliar with,” he says. “Art is a proven method to connect hearts and build bridges.”

That maxim was proven when he was a member of Vancouver’s innovative Roadhouse Community Arts and Recreation Center’s core team in 1996, and facilitated artists-in-communities projects, cross-cultural partnerships, and special events.
