Sarosha Hansraj, 16, Three Dot Dash Global Teen Leader

Sarosha Hansraj, 16, Three Dot Dash Global Teen LeaderSarosha is this year’s Global Teen Leader as selected by Three Dot Dash organization. She was selected from hundreds of international applicants to be involved in one-week long mentoring session in April in New York City.

Project:
Children Care for Children

Sarosha was inspired to create “Children Care for Children” by a bedtime story her parents would tell her about a farmer losing his land, forcing his children to drop out of school. Sarosha was determined to save children in the developing world from the same fate. At 8 years old, she founded her organization to provide kids in marginalized areas of Afghanistan with an opportunity to receive education. Children Care for Children has supplied 800 dictionaries to children and 500 sets of school materials to the girls at Darnami School. The dictionaries help children learn English, opening doors for their futures, and the basic education they receive helps unite people of all cultures and backgrounds. To date, the organization has directly impacted 900 children in Afghanistan, and indirectly impacted many more by simply teaching them to give and help others. In addition, Sarosha has founded her own “Girls Up Club,” an initiative of the United Nations Foundation, at her school.
