Rahman Jamal, Technology and Marketing Director Europe, presenting tools and technologies for building Cyber Physical Systems of Today and Tomorrow

Munich, Germany: “Technologies of Tomorrow” — Dr. Sangiovanni-Vincentelli, Dr. James Truchard, and Rahman Jamal at the 18th Virtual Instrumentation in Practice Conference (VIP 2013)

Dr. Sangiovanni-Vincentelli, Dr. James Truchard, and Rahman Jamal keynoted the two days of the 18thVirtual Instrumentation in Practice Conference (VIP 2013) in Germany, taking an audience of scientist and engineers along on a stimulating ride through today’s and tomorrow’s world of cyber physical and biological systems and the realization of such complex systems using a platform-based approach.

The technology visionary Dr. Alberto Sangiovanni Vincentelli, who holds the Edgar L. and Harold H. Buttner Chair of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley and is the co-founder of Cadence and Synopsys, the two leading companies in the area of Electronic Design Automation, claimed that computers and mobiles are going to disappear. Instead, he sees a sensory swarm of “gazillion devices capturing and communicating data into the cloud, immersing people into the world of electronics, rather than the other way around.” The Internet of Things according to Sangiovanni-Vincentelli is the sensory swarm’s early incarnation, which he sees as a “tiny step toward the future.”

Dr. James Truchard, president and CEO, of National Instruments who pioneered the way scientists and engineers solve the world’s grand engineering challenges, demonstrated with Rahman Jamal, the company’s Technology & Marketing Director for Europe, the technologies to built Cyber Physical Systems based on a Graphical System Design approach.
