RUN and managed by the Italy-based humanitarian organisation Emergency, the Salam Centre offers free treatment for people with heart disease and serves over 50,000 patients annually, including non-Sudanese. The centre comprises a hospital with 63 beds and 300 local staff, and a staff accommodation compound that sleeps 150 people. Three operating theatres, diagnostics laboratories and a ward are placed in the hospital block.
