Bangladesh: Aga Khan IV inks deal with govt to enhance collaboration in the areas of social, cultural and economic developmentDHAKA, Sept 16, 2013 (BSS) – The Aga Khan Development Network, one of the world’s biggest private development groups, today signed a protocol with the government to operate its 10 organs in Bangladesh as Imam of the Ismailia Imamat Prince Karim Aga Khan arrived here on a two day tour in Dhaka.

A private jet carried Aga Khan at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to be received by Foreign Minister Dipu Moni while he called on President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, paid his tributes to 1971 martyrs at Savar National Memorial, visited Bangabandhu Museum and signed the protocol of cooperation jointly with Moni.

According to a foreign ministry statement, Finance Minister AMA Muhith accompanied by the foreign minister also called on him at the Pan-Pacific Sonargaon Hotel when they sought the Aga Khan Development Network’s (AKDN) cooperation in the areas of health, particularly in non-communicable diseases, education, heritage tourism, , jute industry, agriculture and livestock.

The protocol was signed after his call on with the premier at her office and under the deal the AKDN would now run 10 of its organs, nine of them being non-profit ones.

The Aga Khan Development Network yesterday signed a protocol with the government to operate its organs in Bangladesh as Prince Karim Aga Khan IV arrived in Dhaka on a two-day tour.

The protocol was signed after a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office.
