CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, September 8, 2013. Today over 3,000 Chicagoans will demonstrate their commitment to end global poverty in the annual Chicago Partnership Walk/Run at Montrose Harbor. The Chicago Partnership Walk/Run is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA) to raise awareness and funds that reduce poverty, hunger, illiteracy and poor health in Africa and Asia.
Last year’s Walk raised over $400,000. 100% of the funds raised at Partnership Walk/Run go directly to projects supported by the Foundation; not a cent is spent on administration.
The event features a 5K competitive Run for ages 13 and up, and a 100-yard dash for children ages 7 and under. The event is a day of fun for the whole family and one that Chicagoans look forward to every year. There will be family entertainment, food, rides and games. This year’s Walk/Run entertainment will feature renowned singer, social worker and humanitarian Shehzad Roy and many others. There will also be activities for all ages celebrating a rich diversity of cultures. One of the most inspiring features of Partnership Walk/Run is the Village in Action, where participants can enjoy interactive exhibits spotlighting the Foundation’s practical solutions for alleviating poverty from Afghanistan to Zanzibar.
