Alberta adds supports for seniors in Calgary
The Redford government is giving seniors and persons with disabilities in Calgary more care options closer to home by adding 692 new supportive living spaces.
The spaces will be developed at five sites in the city and are being funded in part by $49 million in grants through the Alberta government’s Affordable Supportive Living Initiative (ASLI), with the project developers contributing any remaining capital amounts.
This is part of the Redford government’s Building Alberta Plan.

“Thanks to our partnership with the Alberta government, we have been able to develop programming and facilities at an affordable cost, providing seniors in Calgary with much needed care and support,” said Malik Talib, President of the Aga Khan Council for Canada. “This funding will enable us to build on our current project and provide affordable housing and assisted living in a community-centric model. By bringing together the very young and the elderly, the centre will provide opportunities for intergenerational living.”
