10,000 expected to turn out for World Partnership Walk to fight global povertyMore than 10,000 people are expected to walk through Stanley Park on Sunday to help raise money to fight global poverty.

The World Partnership Walk, organized through the Aga Khan Foundation, starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Lumbermen’s Arch. Zahed Lalani, the foundation’s regional campaign manager, said the event caters to the entire family.

“We have lots of entertainment and we have a whole BBQ going on as well,” he said. “We have some amazing bands coming out as well.”

The walk, now in its 29th year, is designed to raise funds to support development initiatives in isolated and impoverished nations across Africa and Asia. Organizers are hoping to raise over $2 million at Sunday’s walk.
