IREAD is the vision of founders Aly Nanji and Noor Jaffer.
Aly Nanji, IREAD’s Chief Education Officer, while working as an educational consultant and School Commissioner in the Chitral region recognized the need for early childhood education in the region. Having established excellent working relationships with local educators and community leaders, Aly was in a unique position to effect change in this area,
Aly upon his return to Canada partnered with Dr. Noor Jaffer, to incorporate IREAD as a not for profit organization in November 2009. They visited Chitral in the spring of 2010 to begin IREAD’s work of delivering high quality early childhood education to communities in need.
Dr. Jaffer was born in London UK and grew up in Uganda. He obtained his Doctorate in Dentistry from the University of London in 1976 before moving to Canada. After a brief teaching career at the University of Alberta, he settled in Calgary where he is currently the Clinical Director of six dental clinics.
A seasoned educator, Mr. Nanji has been involved in education in Alberta for the last 30 years as a teacher, administrator and curriculum developer. After his initial teacher training program in Nairobi, Kenya, Aly obtained his Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and his Masters of Education from the University of Victoria in British Columbia.
