As a young child, I always hated being a girl. I resented that I was supposed to be feminine and less boisterous than my male counterparts. I hated it so much that I completely and totally rebelled against it. I would only play with the boys, dress in baggy clothing, and I would die rather than attempt to do my own hair. My mother, although understanding, never appreciated my tomboyish attitude and would constantly beg me to change my ways. All she wanted was a more effeminate daughter, but all I wanted was to play Cops and Robbers with my guy friends.

Now that I am in my later teen years, I can look back upon my childish wishes and actions with a different mindset.
