A few weeks ago, I was at Barnes and Noble (contrary to popular belief there are still some around), choosing four out of six summer reading books incoming juniors at Beverly High are required to read if they wish to take AP Language. Summer reading books are never very exciting to me, but this summer was different. I was excited to read one of the books on my list.
I have heard from many people about the wonder that is The Catcher in the Rye. Many of my friends and teachers claimed it was a life-changing and inspirational book about a boy coming to terms with his adulthood, so I was eager to read it. I bought the book, went home and fished through the drawers of my desk to find the most colorful post-it notes I own and my most dainty pen to annotate with.
