Cuso International was invited to a White House event honouring people who have contributed to development in their countries of origin, or their diaspora communities in the US.

The ‘Champions of Change’ event was sponsored by the US State Department and USAID (the US Agency for International Development). Cuso U.S. Program Officer Shelina Gwaduri represented the organization.

Cuso International had been invited because of our partnerships with diaspora communities in the US and Canada, and because of our development work around the world.

The White House event followed a Global Diaspora Forum in Washington DC, hosted by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. At the forum, it was announced that USAID will support Cuso International’s diaspora program in the US, which aims to recruit American professionals from diaspora communities to serve as volunteers abroad.
