Toronto, ON, June 20, 2012 – Baycrest, a global leader in innovations in aging and brain health, has appointed Dr. Karima Velji to the new role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), in addition to her current post as Chief Nursing Executive (CNE).
One of Canada’s most distinguished clinical care and nursing executives, Dr. Velji joined Baycrest in 2010 as Vice-President of Clinical and Residential Programs and CNE. In addition to her expanded portfolio at Baycrest, the Canadian Nursing Association has elected Dr. Velji as its next President, a tremendous honor for the nursing executive and for Baycrest as it leads the way in transforming nursing scholarship and training to ensure Canada’s current and next generation nurses provide an exceptional and unrivalled level of care for Canadians across the health system.
“Dr. Velji’s visionary leadership is helping to pave the way for the next generation of excellence in healthcare and nursing,” said Dr. William Reichman, President and Chief Executive Officer at Baycrest. – More news.baycrest.org.
