Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women Canada National Committee Speaks at the York Regional Police Celebrating Our Community Event

Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women Canada National Committee will address attendees of the York Regional Police 10th Anniversary of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination – Celebrating our Community event on Sunday, April 15, 2012.

“I am honoured to be part of this celebration, to work with the York Region Police and raise awareness about the impact of discrimination on our communities,” says Ms. Jiwani. “The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination provides us with an opportunity to promote respect for the rights and freedoms outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a pledge that defines the work of UN Women, York Regional Police, and any organization or individual working to eliminate racism, stigma, and prejudice.”
