Mar 7, 2012 – Farouk Adatia, a lawyer who worked on Alberta Premier Alison Redford’s leadership campaign, has been appointed as the Progressive Conservative candidate in Calgary-Shaw.
The spot was made available this week when MLA Cindy Ady suddenly announced she would not run in the upcoming election. Ady held the seat for three terms.
Stephen Hope, riding president, said that Ady’s announcement caught them by surprise.
Adatia, a 40-year-old Calgary lawyer, was chosen to be the candidate Tuesday after officials concluded there would not be enough time to hold a nomination vote, said Hope.

And it is important to remember that Farouk was not the only candidate considered by the Calgary-Shaw board. He was chosen but that board for all of the right and just reasons.
