Last summer, undergraduate student Zain Jinnah explored his academic passion for human rights in the Middle East. He immersed himself in foundational policy documents, scholarly treatises, legal documents and United Nations reports in his quest for a deeper understanding.
Jinnah is in his final year of an international relations and political science program, and is in the first cohort of the Scholars Academy Program. Along with his passion for international relations, he is enthusiastic about the value of undergraduate research.
“It’s an opportunity to explore subjects outside of class in ways that are meaningful to the individual student,” he says.
Jinnah’s advice for other undergraduates is to put a lot of thought into the area of interest in their research proposals.
