The Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay team are pleased to inform that Alnoor Rajan Talwar was a Medal-Bearer in our nation-wide Relay.
His unique story of making a difference is creating positive change in the lives of others. Our team was excited to have him join us on the road as we retraced Rick’s legendary route across Canada passing the Rick Hansen Medal from one person to the next.
Alnoor’s Account of the day’s events:
I was immensely proud and emotional to be a part of this relay.
The 250 metre run (in my wheelchair) was a little difficult, as it was uphill, but I managed it with a little help and a lot of moral support.
That uphill segment was a perfect metaphor for life.
It was about not giving up and not giving in to challenges, illness and disabilities.
It was also about seeking and accepting help when needed, and recognizing and acknowledging the amazing support I have from friends, family, the jamat and well wishers.I met with Rick Hansen later that evening and the whole day was filled with exhilaration and emotion. I think at may times during the day, I could not decide whether to cry or laugh and found myself doing both.
Thank you again for all your support and good wishes.
