Lack of access to safe drinking water is a significant contributor to Afghanistan’s under five child mortality rate, which remains staggeringly high.
Even today, sources of clean drinking water in rural and urban Afghanistan remain a challenge. Many families are forced to either travel great distances to collect clean drinking water or have no other choice but to use unclean sources of water from rivers and streams.
