Article: Parental control hurting children, by Salima Shahzad Arwani, Karachi | DAWN.COM

THE parental pressure on a child to think, feel or behave in a specific way is a gateway of parental controlling.

This pressure leads a child towards a darker world, one which has no lights for her/his holistic development. Owing to this controlling and pressuring attitude, a child can only be able to follow the parent’s orders.

However, the child is not able to develop abilities and skills. Lack of autonomy, lack of self-confidence, rebellion or fearful attitude are some of the effects on the child due to parental controlling.

The beauty of parent-child relationship lies in proper guidance, not by parental controlling.
