When Arif Kassam came to Canada from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania almost four years ago, he knew he was taking a calculated risk. But his hard work – and a bit of good luck – added up to a winning formula.
Kassam knew education was the key to a better life in his new country, so he enrolled in Douglas College’s General Business Program. He did well, but then he took his first accounting class and got an A+.
Kassam had found his calling. He transferred into the Accounting Management Program and never looked back. He made the Dean’s List seven times and graduated with a GPA of 4.0. He won an International Student Scholarship twice.
