Parklands: An Asian estate with rich history – The Standard

Established in the late 1930s, Parklands has grown to be amongst Nairobi’s most sought after commercial and residential suburb due to its proximity to the city centre. The area houses the upper middle class and Kenya’s vibrant Asian business community and, therefore, offers a melting point of sorts.

Most of Parklands housing architecture has strong Asian influence, even though there is also an upward growth in many modern apartments within this estate. Parklands is a part of Westlands and famed as one of the places where His Highness the Aga Khan spent his early childhood. This probably explains the presence of Aga Khan School and even the Aga Khan University Hospital.
