Zul Surani has served as a public health administrator, consultant and ardent advocate in disease prevention and access to care for over a decade. Since 2000, he has been the partnership program coordinator in the Southern California Office of The National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Information Service of California (CIS). CIS is based at USC Norris Cancer Center.
Mr. Surani is also a co-founder of Saath an organization serving South Asians who have cancer in areas of support, navigation, prevention and early detection.
Mr. Surani received the Spirit of the CIS Award from NCI’s Cancer Information Service in 2006. He was nominated by South Asian community advocates for the Community Health Leadership Award given by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Mr. Surani is a South Asian immigrant from Kenya and is an Ismaili Muslim.
