As Associate Director of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, Al-Karim coordinates the development of and adherence to the Institute budget. He also coordinates internal and external communications, supports cardiovascular science fund raising and stewardship activities of UCalgary Medicine and Calgary Health Trust and participates in the Institute’s strategic planning. As a non-voting member of the Strategic Advisory Board, Al-Karim provides regular updates to the board and is an Institute point-person both internally and externally for matters under his jurisdiction.
