In the summer of 2009, I had the opportunity to go to Kenya and see for myself how the populations in the capital of Nairobi and the rural coastal town of Mombasa cope with poverty as part of an Awareness Trip with Aga Khan Foundation Canada, a private, non-denominational charitable organisation. My involvement with the Foundation stems from the World Partnership Walk, Canada’s largest annual event dedicated to raising funds and awareness to fight global poverty. The Walk takes place in 9 cities across Canada including my hometown, Montreal. For the past two years, I have been working alongside the hundreds of other volunteers who have come together to make this event happen for over 25 years. –More–
