In an effort to combat global poverty, Canadians from coast to coast will come together over three Sundays this spring to participate in the 26th World Partnership Walk, an annual event that raises funds for and increases awareness of the issue.
Since its inception, the event has raised over $50 million, with the proceeds being channelled directly to international development programs aimed at improving, among other things, the quality of education and health care in impoverished communities in Asia and Africa.
Organizers for the event say this year’s walk is expected to attract approximately 40,000 Canadians.
