Swab Event to Register Potential Stem Cell Donors

Sunday April 11, 2010 from 9:30am – 4:30pm

Markham Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Blvd. Markham, Ontario

A stem cell donation could be the last chance of survival for many patients fighting Leukemia, Lymphoma and many disorders of the blood around the world.

In Canada, over 83% of potential donors on the OneMatch stem cell and marrow registry are Caucasians. Members from ethnic minority groups are severely under-represented on OneMatch – the Canadian Stem Cell and Marrow Network.

The chances of finding a stem cell match for patients from members of ethnic minority communities are significantly reduced due to the lack of available donors from their own ethic background.

OneMatch and volunteers from the South Asians for Life group will be present at the Ismaili Health Fair on April 11th to increase the number of potential donors on the OneMatch stem cell and marrow network.

You could be the match to save someone’s life!
