The Burnaby complex is one the few High Profile Jamatkhanas in the world, and the first in North America. A Jamatkhana serves four aspects of life: religious, social, educational and natural. The focal point of the building is the Prayer Hall, but the building also includes a social hall, council chamber and classrooms. Access to the building is gained through a courtyard garden, which is enhanced by fountains, trees and flowers. The pursuit of geometry, enclosure, symmetry, mass and the layering of symbolic decoration generated the architectural concept.
